Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran: The new arrangement for the Strait of Hormuz will close the temporary course

On 6 August, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iran, Gharib Abadi, stated on 5 August that the United States had sent a message to Iran four to five days after the outbreak of a new round of conflict in the hope of a negotiated settlement. He stressed that the relevant arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz should be decided only by consultation between Iran and Oman and that the Iraqi side would never accept any outside involvement. Under the new arrangements, the current temporary shipping lanes in the Strait will be closed and, in the future, a significant number of ships will pass through Iranian territorial waters.
