Tesla: Terafab plans to start the Texan launch to achieve over 1 TTW a year

In April, Tesla had begun work on a new research and development of the crystal round factory in the North Park of the Texas super factory, the predecessor of Terrafab. Today, we officially announce that Terrafab will be in Grimes County, Texas. The facility will be an advanced semiconductor crystal round plant designed to bridge the huge gap between the current global chip supply capacity and future computing needs. The combined demand for chips by SpaceX and Tesla is expected to exceed the computing capacity of 1 twa (TW), a scale well above the current global supply capacity. We highly appreciate the existing chip providers and encourage them to expand their capacity where possible, but the widening gap between supply and demand in the future is at the core of the Terafab project. The objective of Terrafab is to create new computing capabilities at an unprecedented scale and speed. The project plans to build a vertically integrated plant with an area of over 100 million square feet. The facility will cover the manufacturing, sealing and testing of advanced logical chips and storage chips. Bringing these processes together in one location would facilitate rapid iterative improvements and accelerate the deployment of new computing capabilities。
