Canada saw a 0.6 per cent increase in retail sales in June above expectations

Data published by Statistics Canada show that retail sales grew by 0.6 per cent in June 2026, higher than market expectations of 0.4 per cent. The previous increase in retail sales in May was revised to 1.1 per cent. With the exception of cars, retail sales grew by 0.5 per cent in June, also higher than expected, at 0.4 per cent. Retail sales generally increased in the provinces, with Ontario growing by 1.6 per cent and Toronto by 3.9 per cent。
