Iran claims that various hostile acts against the United States have developed a response plan

On 23 August, according to information from the Iranian side on local time, the spokesman of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Muhbi, said on the same day that Iran had developed a response to various hostile actions against the United States, including economic pressure. In a press conference in the northern Iranian city of Karaj, Mohbi said that the United States' recent announcement of “the harshest economic war” against Iran had in fact demonstrated that the United States had failed to achieve its objectives in the military sphere. He said that it had been 47 years since the United States had imposed economic sanctions on Iran and that the current statement on “economic warfare” was intended to exert psychological influence on the Iranian population. Mohbi stated that the Iraqi side had developed programmes to deal with the adverse effects of the “economic war” and would continue to “under the nose of the United States” to conduct economic exchanges with other countries and bypass United States restrictions. He stated that Iran was “no worry” in the economic sphere and that the effects of the measures would soon be felt. (In Russian)
