The central channel of the Strait of Hormuz is restored and the United States claims to have cleared all mines

On 26 August, it was reported by Axios that the United States Navy had cleared the main channel in the Strait of Hormuz, the traffic separation route (TSS) between Iran and Oman, and allowed more tankers. According to United States officials, over the past few months, United States naval underwater drones have scanned the area systematically and found over 100 suspected mine-related objects, followed by United States military cooperation with private companies to clear or detonate mines. Over the past 30 days, more than 500 ships have crossed the southern channel of the Strait and only about 2 per cent have been attacked by Iranian drones or missiles. Trump stated that any re-mining vessel or ship would be “immediately and systematically destroyed”. United States officials stated that, as major shipping lanes resumed, ships could move in both directions through the Strait of Hormuz under United States protection to promote more oil into the global market。
