The Baltic dry bulk freight price index rose to its highest since the end of 2023

On 2 September, the Baltic dry bulk freight index rose to its highest since the end of 2023 on Wednesday and was strongly boosted by ship-type rates. The Baltic dry bulk freight index rose by 174 points, by 5.5 per cent, to 3331 points, the highest level since December 2023. The seagull shipping price index rose by 421 points, by 8.1 per cent, and reported 5642 points, the highest since December 2023; the average daily gain rose by $3819 to $47,666. The Panama-type shipping price index increased by 69 points, or 2.9 per cent, to 2429 points, reaching a high of more than three months; the average daily gain increased by $628 to $21865.
