THE CNBC WILL CLOSE THE HONG KONG OFFICE

On 3 September, under the banner of Versant Media Group Inc., CNBC will close its offices in Hong Kong and cancel several daily live programmes. In an e-mail statement sent to it, the CNBC stated that it had suspended the programmes Inside India, The China Connétion and Europe Early Edition, as well as the programmes CNBC Meets and Built for Billions. The spokesperson for the CNBC stated that, as part of the restructuring of the programming and production, the Hong Kong branch would close, but news coverage of Hong Kong and the wider region would continue as part of its Asian coverage. Early this year, Comcast Corp. split its cable network, including CNBC and MS NOW, into a new company, Versant. Earlier this year, the CNBC reduced its staff by more than 10, including the responsible editor of its website。
