The Korean Government has initiated legislative discussions on the Basic Law on Digital Assets (Phase II), with a focus on stable currency regulation

Today, the Korean Government held a forum chaired by Choi Sang-moo, Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance for Business, to officially launch a legislative discussion on the Digital Assets Basic Law (Phase II), which focused on stable currency regulation. The Korean Government and the Co-Democrats plan to move the bill through this year. In the Economic Growth Strategy 2026, published on 14 July, the authorities indicated that it was planned to move forward with the legislation on the Basic Law on Digital Assets in the second half of the year, with a breakdown of the digital asset industry, the establishment of a regulatory framework for business conduct and the establishment of a legal basis for the regulation of stable currency regulation。
