SIERRA LEONE, BHUTAN AND SIGN FOUNDATION WILL WORK TOGETHER TO DEVELOP A NATIONAL DIGITAL IDENTITY PLATFORM
On 7 July, the Ministry of Communications, Technology and Innovation of Sierra Leone (MoCTI), Bhutan National Digital Identity Ltd. (Bhutan NDI) and SIGN Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the design, development and implementation of the Sierra Leone National Digital Identity Platform. Using open-source technologies and verifiable documents that meet W3C standards, the platform enables citizens to safely prove and manage their identity while maintaining strict standards of privacy, security and data sovereignty. This collaboration involved the strategic leadership, policy development and coordination of government agencies of MoCTI, Sierra Leone; NDI, Bhutan, which will provide a mature national digital identity framework experience and open-source identity framework; and SIGN Foundation, which is responsible for system design, solution architecture and technical implementation。
