Bitquery has been accused of misappropriation of $5 million and has removed evidence before leaving office
On 1 August, the New York Post reported that a block chain entrepreneur was suspected of misappropriating more than $5 million from his own company and that 194 cost records had been removed prior to sudden departure. Dionysios “Dean” Karakitsos, 57 years old, was charged with empting Bitquery Inc. (a company that tracks encrypted monetary values and the flow of funds). The proceedings were brought before the Supreme Court of Manhattan. Karakitsos is the co-founder of the company and has served as CEO, Director and Chief Financial Officer until 2025. He was accused of continuing to transfer company funds to his personal accounts over the years. Karakitsos subsequently operated a forecast market platform called Assymetrix. Bitquery filed a lawsuit in June for the return of at least $5 million allegedly stolen. The company indicated that additional compensation was being sought to cover legal costs。
