THE EMIRATES SOVEREIGN FUND IS INVESTING 1 TRILLION YEN TO BUILD THE LARGEST AI DATA CENTRE IN JAPAN

On 7 August, according to information received, the United Arab Emirates is considering investing 1 trillion yen (approximately $6.3 billion) in the construction of the Japan AI Data Centre Project, the Abu Dhabi Sovereign Wealth Fund Mubadala Investment, which is expected to lead the investment and possibly join with other overseas and native Japanese investors, and is expected to become Japan ' s largest AI Data Centre upon its completion, with a total investment (including supporting enterprises and surrounding infrastructure) estimated at up to 2 trillion yen (approximately $12.6 billion). It is known that the project will deploy the British Weida AI server and that the Government of Japan has now made data centres and cloud computing a strategic focus of growth, with the goal of attracting 32.7 trillion yen in public and private investment in fiscal year 2035. In recent years, companies such as the build-up of power, Tower Semiconductor and American Light have expanded their investments in Japan, and the Japanese data centre operator NTT Data is planning to invest at least $9 billion in expanded computing infrastructure by 2033.
