Galaxy Research: Coldcard lost or exceeded $130 million, while multiple attackers exploited the loophole
On 7 August, Galaxy Research indicated that there was now a high level of confirmed theft of 1,719 BTCs as a result of the Coldcard security incident, valued at approximately $111 million, and that actual losses were expected to exceed $130 million. The research team has tracked more than 25 attack patterns and believes that there are multiple attackers who simultaneously exploit the loophole. More than 250 victim reports have been received; if all outstanding cases are confirmed, the scale of the theft may exceed 2,300 BTCs. Galaxy Research states that there is no evidence to show that the loophole affected other signature devices or wallets other than Coldcard Mk3, Mk4, Mk5 and Q. Researchers have received reports of more than 250 victims; if all the cases currently pending are finally established, the scale of the theft may exceed 2,300 BTCs, but this part is still unidentified。
