Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran: Security in the Persian Gulf region should be jointly maintained by the countries of the region
On 8 August, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iran, Garibabadi, issued a statement on 7 August local time, stating that security in the Persian Gulf region should be maintained jointly by the countries of the region, and that Iran advocated the resolution of regional security issues without outside interference. According to Garibabadi, Iran has submitted and documented to the United Nations Security Council evidence of some attacks against Iran from the territory of another country, including a few direct attacks. At the same time, he stated that, based on the information currently available, the countries of the region had become acutely aware that the expansion of the conflict and the continuation of military operations would seriously threaten their security. The conditions are now ripe for the resumption of security dialogue between the Persian Gulf States。
