Cambridge study: US carries about 31% at Taifung node, over 1/3 node offline or final confirmation of impact

On July 17, a recent study by Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance showed that about 31 per cent of ETA activities were in the United States and about 39 per cent were in the EU, which did not include Britain, indicating that the geographical distribution of ETAs remained more concentrated in Western countries. According to Alexander Neumuller, the research director, nodal distribution is not currently concentrated in a single country, but relies mainly on a few cloud service providers, including Hetzner, Amazon AWS and OVH. It is a matter of concern that the ETA network does not require half of the certifiers to fail before problems arise, and when more than one third of certifiers are offline at the same time, the network may not be able to complete the final confirmation of the block check point (finalization). Neumuller noted that node is not a match to a certifier and that there may be multiple certifiers running behind a single node, so that it is not possible to determine with precision the actual impact of a node or service provider failure on the certification network. In addition, the study re-evaluated energy consumption after the integration of the Etheraf. The data show that the current annual energy consumption in the Ether is about 7.9 GWh, equivalent to about 1 MW, at about 0.02 per cent of pre-merger levels, and that energy consumption has decreased by about 99.98 per cent. The current rate of use of sustainable energy in the Taifa network is over 56 per cent, above the global average. At the same time, it was noted that customer-based software concentration was also one of the potential risks, and that gaps in the dominant client could affect a large number of network participants. The report was published by the Cambridge Alternative Financial Research Centre and supported by the Taifung Foundation。

The sleeping bitcoin wallet moved $383 million in eight years. Dollar

An eight-year-old bitcoin wallet recently transferred nearly $383 million bitcoin, which is of great interest to the market. Lokonchain, a block chain intelligence company, marked the transaction on Thursday, showing that all the 5908 bitcoin held in the wallet had been transferred to a new address. The bitcoin was initially received at a bitcoin transaction price of $16,865, and at current prices of close to $64,700, the value of the wallet added approximately $283 million, an increase of 284 per cent. In chain analysis, the sudden transfer of sleeping wallets after years of inactivity was considered an important signal, although the transfer of new wallets did not necessarily mean that they were about to be sold. Wallet consolidation, security upgrades and inheritance-related transfers all produce the same chain footprint without the intention of selling it. The market is more concerned about whether these transfers of bitcoins eventually reach the exchange. If these bitcoins were to be transferred to known exchange deposit addresses, this would indicate that the real intent of the sale could have minimal market impact if it were to remain in the cold wallet or to be transferred to the custodian service provider。

I NOW BELIEVE THAT A MODEST INCREASE IN INTEREST RATES WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO A BETTER BALANCE BETWEEN PROSPECTS AND RISKS.”

The second quarter of Wall Street was the largest in six years

On 17 July, United States banks, banks of rich countries, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley reduced the number of employees by more than 10,000 in the second quarter, the largest quarterly decline since the beginning of 2020, according to employee data disclosed by United States banks in quarterly financial statements. Of the major banks, only Morgan Chase has increased slightly after the end of the first quarter. This year, Wall Street companies are rapidly downsizing their staff, with the largest lending institution having experienced three consecutive quarterly layoffs. Many enterprises are trying to contain costs. Citigroup, for example, has been streamlining its staff in recent months, and Chief Executive Officer Jane Fraser is working to increase the bank's rate of return. “Our staff size management has been very good over the past six quarters,” Alastair Boschwick, Chief Financial Officer of the United States Bank, said at a teleconference earlier this week. The number of employees at the Bank decreased by nearly 1 per cent compared to the same period last year。
