The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: the Strait of Hormuz will not return to pre-war status, and the issue of openness has nothing to do with Omani negotiations

According to Baghaei, the ongoing negotiations between Iran and Oman around the waterway have nothing to do with the opening or closure of the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the closure of the Strait was due to “United States sabotage and the maritime blockade imposed on Iran”. He added that the negotiations were of a bilateral nature and that discussions between the parties on “mechanisms for their own interests” were not new and had been the subject of lengthy consultations. He added that Iran acted in accordance with its national interests and concerns and would not be affected by threats and intimidation from other sources, and that Iran “will not give up its position because of threats and media pressure”.
