US SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce: Even if the CLARITY bill is not passed, the encryption regulatory reform will continue

On August 4, Commissioner Hester Peirce of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stated that she remained optimistic that Congress had passed the CLARITY Act, and said, “If the bill had not been passed, much could have been done. Hester Peirce noted that the SEC will continue to actively pursue its work “whether the bill is passed or not, the SEC will strive to move forward” and that even if the CIATY Act fails to land, the regulator will have more space to promote the regulatory framework for digital assets. Hester Peirce had repeatedly called for clearer rules for the regulation of encrypted assets, arguing that a clear market structure would help the United States to maintain competitiveness in the area of digital assets and reduce long-standing uncertainties in the industry。
